Ondo High Court Declares 33 Local Council Development Areas Unconstitutional

An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has delivered a landmark judgment scrapping the 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) established during the tenure of late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Presiding over the case, Justice A.O Adebusuoye declared the creation of the LCDAs as unconstitutional and illegal.

The court's decision followed a petition challenging the legality of the Local Council Development Areas' establishment under the administration of late Governor Akeredolu.

In his ruling, Justice Adebusuoye emphasized that the creation of the LCDAs did not comply with the due process of law, thereby rendering them invalid.

This ruling is expected to have significant implications for the local governance structure in Ondo State, as it nullifies the existence of the 33 Local Council Development Areas.
