The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that the revived 60,000 barrels-per-day Port Harcourt Refinery is currently producing significant quantities of refined products, including 1.4 million liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, the company refuted claims suggesting that the refinery is not operational. According to NNPCL, the facility is running at 70% of its installed capacity, with plans in place to increase output to 90% in the near future.
“We are aware of unfounded claims by certain individuals suggesting that the refinery is not producing products.
“For clarity, the Old Port Harcourt Refinery is currently operating at 70% of its installed capacity, with plans to ramp up to 90%”, the statement said..
Soneye further outlined the daily production figures of the refinery, which include 1.4 million liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 900,000 liters of Kerosene, 1.5 million liters of Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel), and 2.1 million liters of Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO). Additionally, the refinery produces Straight-Run Gasoline (Naphtha), which is blended into the PMS.
The statement highlights the refinery’s ongoing contribution to the nation's fuel supply and reiterates NNPCL’s commitment to further increasing production capacity to meet growing demand.
