Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has earned a prestigious nomination for the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, where he joins an elite group of global football icons.
The 27-year-old, whose stellar season with Atalanta has captivated fans, is listed in the Best Men’s Player category alongside legendary names like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Premier League stars Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer.
Lookman’s remarkable performances for Atalanta have been a standout, notably his role in securing the club’s first-ever UEFA Europa League title, where he scored a decisive hat-trick in a 2-0 final win over Bayer Leverkusen.
With an impressive tally of 17 goals and 11 assists, Lookman has achieved the highest goal involvement in Italy’s Serie A this year.
Internationally, Lookman’s impact has been just as significant. He scored six goals in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, helping the Super Eagles reach the final. Currently, he leads Nigeria's scoring in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers with two goals.
Lookman’s rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed, earning him a 14th-place finish in the Ballon d’Or rankings and making him a top contender for the African Men’s Footballer of the Year award.
He shares the latter nomination with compatriot William Troost-Ekong among others.
Currently, Lookman is in Abidjan with the Super Eagles, preparing for a crucial AFCON qualifier against Benin Republic. The Globe Soccer Awards, organized by the Dubai Sports Council, will take place on December 27.
