Closure of Murtala Muhammed Road: KWARTMA urges motorists to use reopened post office lane

The Kwara State Road Management Authority ((KWARTMA) called on motorists heading from Maraba to Challenge to use the reopened lane from Post Office to access Fate and Zango.

In a statement by Head, Media/PRO Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority, Olawuyi Gani Olalekan, revealed that the diversion is necessary as a result of the ongoing construction scheduled to hold on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

It added that the Chief Executive Officer of KWARTMA, Mr. Abdullahi Suleiman Oba, explained that construction work will now shift to the lane that was earlier accessible to the public.

He stressed that the culvert and drainage systems need to be fully repaired before asphalt can be applied, to ensure a smooth road surface providing a long and lasting solution to easily damaged roads

Mr. Oba appealed to all road users noting the closure will last only for a short period of time, he urged the road users to comply with the diversion plan and cooperate with contractors and KWARTMA officials at the site.

KWARTMA also urged motorists coming from Zango/Maraba are to use the Sabo-Oke diversion through Offa Road to reach Post Office, from where they can then proceed to other parts of the city.

KWARTMA reaffirmed its commitment to reducing traffic congestion, minimizing travel delays, and ensuring safer roads for the public noting with this adjustment, the previously blocked lane will be reopened for motorists, while the other lane will remain closed until works are completed.
