Kwara Governor Challenges New NFAI Executive to Prioritize National Security and Humanitarian Values

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has issued a challenge to the newly inaugurated National Executive Committee of the Nigeria Foundation for Artificial Intelligence (NFAI), urging them to prioritize national security and the ethical implications of AI in their work.

In a congratulatory message to the new committee members, including Mallam Taofik Abdulkareem, a Kwaran and chairman/CEO of Plat Technologies Limited, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized the need to place public interest and national security at the core of their AI-related initiatives.

“The work of the NFAI is crucial, and it is imperative that you focus on national security and the strengthening of humanity in your AI efforts,” AbdulRazaq stated.

“I call on all stakeholders to work towards a national consensus on internet governance and the ethical use of AI, ensuring that our pursuits contribute to economic growth, trade, investment, and inclusivity, while always safeguarding national interests.”

The governor's call highlights the growing importance of integrating ethical considerations and security measures into the development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies.

The new NFAI executive is expected to lead these efforts as they navigate the intersection of AI innovation and national priorities.
