Montpellier head coach Zoumana Camara has issued a clear warning to his players ahead of their upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Nantes, highlighting the danger posed by Nigerian winger Moses Simon and fellow attacker Matthis Abline.
Simon has been one of the standout player for Nantes this season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 31 league appearances, as Nantes battle to remain in Ligue 1.
In a pre-match conference, as reported by midilibre, Camara emphasized the importance of ball control and defensive balance, acknowledging the explosive counter-attacking threat Nantes possesses.
"The goal will be to control the ball well. There will be areas where we must not lose it because they are a team that goes forward very quickly, that projects quickly."
He singled out Moses Simon and Abline as key threats, describing them as “powerful attackers” capable of punishing lapses in concentration. The Nigerian international, in particular, has a reputation for using his pace and direct style to exploit defensive weaknesses.
"They have powerful attackers like Abline or Moses Simon. We will have to have good control, and when losing, it will be necessary to be well balanced to avoid these transitions,” Camara added.
Despite the caution, the former PSG defender made it clear that Montpellier would not compromise their style of play, insisting his side would stick to their strengths.
"That is the challenge, but we will not deny ourselves and that does not mean we will give the ball to the opponent when we can to avoid that. We will stick to what we do well and if we can control the game and the ball, we will not deprive ourselves of it. We will do it, but while remaining attentive to these transitions."
With Nantes needing a win to confirm safety, Moses Simon will hope to showcase his best to ensure the team secures a positive result that guarantees safety in Ligue 1.
