Kwara United denies reports of three-match ultimatum for Coach Tunde Sanni

Kwara United have debunked reports claiming the technical crew has been handed a three match ultimatum following their exit from the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday.

The Harmony lost 1-0 against Asanti Kotonko at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Sunday and bowed out of the tournament 5-3 on aggregate, after losing the first leg 4-3 in Accra, the capital of Ghana.  

Following the defeat, the coach, Tunde Sanni revealed during his post match conference, that there is tension within the club but avoided questioned surrounding his future.

He stated; “As a coach, it is a normal thing even in abroad. They can sack anybody at anytime. So, that’s not a story. Because that question I don’t know how to address it. If I say that question is stupid, you will think that I am abusing you, because there’s tension in everybody now.”

The situation has led to rumours concerning the future of the former Kwara captain, with reports claiming the management has handed the technical crew a three match ultimatum in the league.

However, the club, in a statement by its media team, debunked the reports, claiming that the coaches are committed on securing positive result against Plateau United on Thursday in the league.

“The Coaching Crew of Kwara United Football Club has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering positive results as the league progresses,” the club revealed.

“Contrary to reports making rounds, the team clarifies that no ultimatum whatsoever was issued to the technical crew.”

“The coaches remain resolute and fully focused on winning their upcoming home matches — against Plateau United on Thursday and Abia Warriors on Sunday — as well as sustaining the momentum in subsequent fixtures.”

The club advised the fans of the clubs to disregard the speculations and urged for continuous support of the team.

“Supporters and stakeholders are urged to disregard distractions and continue to rally behind the team in the quest for success,” it concluded.

The club will aim to secure victory at the Rashidi Yekini stadium to improve the position on the log. Kwara United are currently sixteenth with five points from four games.
