As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the University of Ilorin will, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, honour 65 distinguished Nigerians, many of whom are alumni of the institution, for their outstanding achievements and contributions to national development.
The event, titled Investiture Ceremony of Unilorin Ambassadors, Distinguished Alumni, and Award of Excellence, is scheduled to take place at the University Auditorium beginning at 11:00 a.m.
In a statement released over the weekend, the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, quoted the Chairman of the Awards Planning Committee, Prof. AbdulRasheed A. Adeoye, as saying the ceremony will “celebrate alumni and individuals who have excelled in their various fields, enhanced the image and reputation of our University, and have contributed meaningfully to its growth and development.”
The University will confer the Award of Excellence on one alumnus and one other distinguished Nigerian, while 10 individuals will be recognised as Distinguished Alumni. In addition, 50 individuals and three graduating sets will be officially invested as Unilorin Ambassadors.

The ceremony marks a significant moment in the University’s Golden Jubilee celebrations and serves as a tribute to the institution’s legacy of academic excellence and nation-building.
