Omah Lay Accuses Fellow Artist of Stealing His Album Concept

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has accused a fellow musician of stealing the concept for what was supposed to be his next album. According to Omah Lay, he shared the idea with the unnamed artist during discussions for a potential collaboration, only for the artist to later release an album using the same concept.

Speaking on the Zach Sang Show, Omah Lay revealed that the incident forced him to re-record his entire album. He had initially planned to create the album based on a new sound, particularly showcased in his track "Holy Ghost."

"My song ‘Holy Ghost’ is a new sound. I was going to make the whole album with the new sound but along the line, I changed my mind," Omah Lay explained.

He continued, "I shared an idea with a certain artist, and the artist went ahead and put out an album with my idea, and I had to re-record my album."

Although he refrained from naming the artist, Omah Lay expressed his disappointment, particularly because he admired the artist and had been excited to collaborate. "Of course, it’s an artist that I love. And I told him where I’m headed with the sound. Five months later, he put out an album with exactly all the same sound that I shared with him," he said.

Despite the setback, Omah Lay is confident that his upcoming album will be a major success. "I had to go back and remake my album which is actually going to be the greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history," he concluded.

The revelation has sparked speculation among fans about the identity of the artist in question and adds to ongoing conversations about creative ownership in the music industry.
