Former Flying Eagles winger Emmanuel Sarki has encouraged Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman to consider a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) amidst ongoing transfer speculation.
Lookman, who has been linked with a transfer to the Ligue 1 champions, is reportedly on PSG’s radar as the club seeks a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who recently joined Real Madrid.
The speculation intensified after Lookman’s unexpected absence from Atalanta's 4-0 victory over Lecce on Monday, leading to conjecture about his future with the Serie A side.
In an exclusive interview with Ensurednews, Sarki expressed his support for Lookman’s potential move to PSG. He highlighted that the Ligue 1 club offers a welcoming environment for African players, unlike the situation in Italy, which has seen numerous reports of racial discrimination.
“I will suggest he move to PSG. I think the move to France is good for him. In France, they accept African players and they have a lot of them,” Sarki said. “They don't discriminate against African players unlike Italy. There are a lot of racist reports there, and I think Lookman would find a more supportive environment in France.”
Lookman was instrumental in Atalanta’s successful UEFA Europa League campaign last season, where he scored a hat-trick in the final to secure a 3-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
His performances also saw him contribute 11 goals and 7 assists in Serie A, along with 5 goals and 1 assist in the Europa League.
Due to his significant contributions, Atalanta has been hesitant to let the Nigerian winger leave. As a result, it has been reported that PSG might no longer be interested in pursuing the transfer.
