NYG24: Team Kwara Secures 4 Gold, 1 Bronze in Scrabble

Team Kwara has delivered an outstanding performance in the ongoing National Youth Games (NYG24) in Asaba, Delta State, securing 4 gold and 1 bronze medals in Scrabble.

The duo of Olosun Khalid and Olojoku Hassan Olamide clinched the latest gold in the doubles event, adding to the team’s impressive medal tally.

Coach AbdulRafiu Olojoku expressed pride in the team’s achievements, noting a marked improvement from last year's result of 3 gold and 1 silver.

Olojoku, who is both a parent and coach to some of the athletes, extended gratitude to Coach Ajimati, from whom he learned, and praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his consistent support of Kwara’s sports sector.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s backing was evident recently when he sponsored two Scrabble players from Kwara to compete internationally in Sri Lanka, with assistance from Mallam Bola Magaji, executive chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission.

Olamide Olojoku, a student of GDSS Adewole who won 3 gold medals for Kwara, expressed his appreciation for his coach's guidance and urged his fellow athletes to remain focused and committed to their training.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Kwara had secured a total of 11 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze medals, further solidifying their strong presence in this year’s National Youth Games.
