Former President Donald Trump has promised to "fight for America every single day" as he stands poised for a projected victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Speaking to supporters on Wednesday after Fox News projected his win, Trump celebrated his apparent lead in key battleground states and reaffirmed his commitment to his "Make America Great Again" vision.
Trump, who has reportedly won Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, now holds 266 electoral college votes, leading his Democratic rival Kamala Harris, who has 219. In his speech, Trump expressed gratitude to his supporters and spoke of a renewed commitment to his vision for the country.
“I will fight for you every single day, with every breath and with my body,” Trump told a crowd in Florida. “I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children and you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America.”
Trump described his projected victory as “the greatest political movement of all time” and vowed to address pressing national issues, including securing the U.S. border and supporting economic growth. "Our country was devastated before. I want to thank the American people for electing me as the 45th President and now the 47th President of the U.S.," he said.
With just four more electoral votes needed to reach the 270 required for an official win, Trump is on the cusp of reclaiming the presidency. The Republican Party is also expected to gain control of the Senate, marking a significant political shift.
If declared the official winner, Trump would make history as the only former president to be re-elected after leaving office. His promise to usher in a "golden age" underscores his vision to return America to what he deems its former strength and prosperity.
