The Lagos Government, through the Environmental Taskforce on Friday arrested 84 individuals during a major enforcement operation in the Agege area, as part of its ongoing clean-up and environmental compliance campaign.
In a statement released on social media, Tokunbo Wahab, the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, confirmed that the exercise targeted key locations including the Railway Corridor (Ojurin), Isale Oja, Oke Koto, AP, and several adjoining streets in Agege.
The operation, which focused on reclaiming public spaces and addressing the presence of "undesirable elements," led to the arrest of 82 men and 2 women.
Wahab emphasized that the clean-up was in line with the government’s commitment to restoring order and environmental sanity in densely populated parts of the state.
“All the Suspects will be charged to court accordingly,” Wahab stated, reiterating the government's zero-tolerance policy on environmental infractions, illegal trading, and public nuisance.
The commissioner also urged residents to support the government’s efforts by complying with environmental regulations and reporting unlawful activities that could endanger public health or obstruct public spaces.
The Agege operation is part of a broader state-wide campaign aimed at improving sanitation, safety, and livability in Lagos.
