Udinese has confirmed that Nigeria's Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye will undergo surgery to address a wrist injury sustained during the team's recent match against Genoa.
The club announced that Okoye tore the scapholunate ligament in his right wrist following a traumatic incident during the game.
As a result, the Nigerian international will miss Udinese’s upcoming match against Monza on Monday evening.
The club stated that Okoye will undergo surgery in the coming days to repair the ligament. However, the exact duration of his recovery and time on the sidelines remains uncertain.
" Maduka Okoye has torn the scapholunate ligament in his right wrist following a trauma. He will have surgery to repair the ligament in the next few days", the club said.
Okoye’s injury has left Udinese without their key goalkeeper, and the team will be closely monitoring his progress following the surgery.
Since making his debut in 2019, the 25-year-old has made 16 appearances for the Super Eagles. His last appearance was a 2-1 defeat against Rwanda in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in Uyo.
