Governor Loses Wife 16 Months After Assuming Office, Seeks Support

The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the unexpected passing of Pastor Patience Umo Eno, wife of the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno.

The shocking news was confirmed in a statement released early Friday by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong.

According to the statement, titled "Unexpected Sunset," the First Lady passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024, following an undisclosed illness. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

Ememobong expressed the deep sorrow of the state government and the family, saying, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno. She passed away peacefully at the hospital in the presence of her family.”

The statement further added that the family has accepted the will of God and requested privacy as they mourn their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Governor Umo Eno, despite this immense personal loss, reassured the citizens of Akwa Ibom that his dedication to serving the state remains strong and unwavering.

Further details regarding burial arrangements will be provided by the family in due course. The government and the Eno family also requested the continued prayers and support of the public during this difficult time.
