The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has rescued Fauziyah Muhammed, a 19-year-old student of Kogi State University, from suspected ritualists.
Fauziyah, a 400-level English Education student, was reportedly hypnotized in Kogi State before being abandoned in Ilorin, Kwara State.
She was found wandering naked in the Ajegunle-Isale area along Egbejila Road, where local residents apprehended her and handed her over to an NSCDC officer, who alerted the command.
Kwara NSCDC Commandant Dr. Umar Muhammed said the young woman appeared disoriented and displayed signs of trauma.
She was given clothing and care before the command informed Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who pledged logistical support for her return to Kogi State.
During questioning, Fauziyah reportedly recalled losing consciousness after picking up a book but could not explain how she ended up in Kwara.
The NSCDC plans to release her to her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who was designated by her family to take custody of her.
In another development, the NSCDC paraded a minor, Abu Usman Soja, accused of being an informant for kidnappers in the Ajase-Ipo area. The minor’s accomplice, currently at large, was allegedly involved in the November 7 abduction of a woman and her two children.
The kidnappers initially demanded a N50 million ransom, later reducing it to N15 million. While the mother has been released, the children remain in captivity.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and rescue the abducted children. The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and intensifying the fight against criminal activities in Kwara State.
