As the Nationwide League One (NLO) playoff reaches its decisive stage, House of Prayer FA captain John Monday has spoken ahead of their final group game against Zeal Mind FA, expressing confidence and faith in the team’s preparation and determination to seal promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL).
House of Prayer FA currently sits second in the group with four points, behind MAI Kunlele FC only on goal difference. The team began their campaign with a hard-fought win over NA Royal FA before settling for a draw in their second outing against MAI Kunlele FC.
With all to play for in the final fixture, the captain emphasized the team’s readiness and renewed focus following their last performance.
"We are grateful to God for our results so far in the tournament. We played two matches and won the first and drew the second," Monday told the club media team.
He revealed that the team held a players-only meeting after their second game to address shortcomings and redouble their efforts.
"After playing the draw in the second, we came back to camp and spoke to each other. We talked at length and went back to the drawing board and the coaches corrected us in every area that is necessary."
Looking ahead to the high-stakes encounter, the captain reaffirmed the team’s ambition.
"Our expectations for the game are to go there, correct our mistakes, and we're hoping for a win, and secure the ticket to the NNL."
A victory for House of Prayer FA, coupled with a superior goal difference over their group rivals, will be enough to guarantee their promotion to the NNL — a historic step forward for the ambitious side.
