Kwara Government commends Dettol and Wellbeing Foundation for promoting health and hygiene in schools

                                                    

The Kwara State government has praised Dettol and the Wellbeing Foundation for their efforts in promoting health and hygiene in schools. The government also encouraged students and children to practice good hygiene habits to help keep their environment clean and prevent the spread of germs.

Mrs. Ishiaka Sherifat, who represented the Commissioner of Environment, Hon. Nafisat Buge, gave the advice during the Dettol Hygiene Quest Walk in Ilorin - to commemorate the Children's Day celebration.

The Hygiene Quest Walk, organized by the Wellbeing Foundation Africa and supported by Dettol Nigeria (Reckitt) is staged to create awareness and promote hygiene and health education within the state. 

The Commissioner urged the children to comply with hygienic and sanitation rules to ensure prevention of diseases and sanitation of the community. 

Mrs. Eunice Abidoye, the Director of School Service, who represented the Commissioner of Education, Hon. Lawal Olohumgbebe, described the students as the future of the nation. 

Meanwhile, Kehinde Akinsola, the National Programs Manager, Wellbeing Foundation Africa in Ilorin, Kwara State, described the walk as the foundation's commitment to building a healthier, safer, and cleaner future.

He emphasized the commitment of the foundation to reach thousands of students with education and awareness on the importance of hygiene to protect them from diseases. 

Akinsola expressed the commitment of the Wellbeing Foundation to ensure the promotion of hygiene and health education to basic schools. 

In her remark, Sanusi Fatimah, a student of Baboko Community Junior Secondary School, appreciated the state government and foundation for the awareness to educate the children on the significance of personal hygiene. 

Over 300 schools across the state participated in the Dettol Hygiene Quest Program, where thousands of students were educated on the importance of cleanliness and hygiene. As part of the initiative, 20 schools—with 100 students and 20 teachers—also took part in the Dettol Hygiene Quest Walk. The event drew participation from key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Social Development, Water Resources, Environment, Health, and the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board.
