Comrade Falae Unveils Agenda Ahead of RATTAWU Presidential Election

As the 2025 national election of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) gathers momentum, one of the leading contenders for the office of National President, Comrade Engineer Jasper Taiwo Falae, has officially unveiled his manifesto, outlining a bold and reform-focused agenda for the union.

The development was announced in a statement by the Jasper Taiwo Falae Campaign Organisation on Saturday, detailing his achievements as the immediate past Chairman of the RATTAWU Ekiti State Council, and his mission to reposition the union for greater impact nationwide.

Addressing members of the union, Falae — who also served as Acting National Coordinator of the FRCN Trade Group — appealed for support ahead of the July 2025 election. He emphasized the urgent need to restore professionalism in Nigeria’s media sector, and pledged to prioritize the welfare of RATTAWU members if elected.

Describing him as a “visionary leader, proven achiever and trusted comrade,” the statement highlighted key accomplishments under his previous leadership roles:

• Infrastructure Development: Construction of a fully functional Secretariat in Ekiti, including a canteen and conference hall.
• Welfare and Economic Empowerment: Creation of an interest-free loan cooperative and distribution of essential goods and equipment to members.
• Gender Inclusion: Establishment of a vibrant Women’s Commission and securing NGO status for the women’s wing.
• Union Strengthening: Integration of private media houses and consistent member engagement through congresses and meetings.
• Financial Accountability: Introduction of transparent financial reporting and timely disbursement of union dues.
• Visibility and Outreach: Over 50 strategic courtesy visits, consistent media engagements, and increased recognition for past leaders.

Falae’s wide national reach, especially across FRCN, NTA, SOBON and Culture trade groups, was also spotlighted. The campaign noted that he has never needed to personally fund his election forms — a testament to his grassroots support.

His 25-point plan as National President includes:

• Timely remittance of union dues within 24 hours.
• A nationwide insurance scheme for members.
• Revival of the RATTAWU Academy and establishment of a union-run FM radio station in Abuja.
• Construction of a RATTAWU Guest House and creation of a digital platform for union operations.
• Mandatory quarterly media engagement by union organs.
• Strict enforcement of financial transparency and constitutional adherence.
• Stronger inclusion of elders and a standing business committee to raise funds.
• Recognition of outstanding chapters and leaders through annual awards.
• Nationwide outreach to all councils within his four-year tenure.
• Institutionalization of end-of-year gifts and certificates for outgoing executives.

Falae also vowed to establish an ombudsman office at the national secretariat and push for functional social media presence for all chapters and councils.

With over a decade of service still ahead of him, Falae is pitching himself as a young, energetic, and principled leader ready to usher in a new era of unionism rooted in transparency, inclusivity, and progressive advocacy.

His campaign organisation concluded that Comrade Engr. Jasper Taiwo Falae remains “the best candidate to lead RATTAWU into a future of prosperity and unity.”
