‘Stand As Ambassadors’ - EFCC Urges NYSC Members to Champion Anti-Corruption Campaign

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called on members of the NYSC/EFCC Community Development Service (CDS) Group to take an active role in the fight against corruption across Nigeria.

The charge was delivered by Ayodele Babatunde, Head of the Public Affairs Department at the EFCC Ilorin Zonal Directorate, during a sensitisation meeting held on Thursday, July 31, at the Conference Hall of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment, Ilorin. The event was attended by approximately 70 corps members.

Babatunde emphasized the EFCC’s unwavering commitment under the leadership of Mr. Ola Olukoyede to youth empowerment and their strategic involvement in anti-corruption efforts. 

He described young people as the “heartbeat of the nation” and vital partners in building a transparent and accountable society.

“As young graduates and future leaders, you are in a strategic position to drive the message of integrity and to stand as ambassadors of the anti-corruption campaign,” Babatunde stated.

“The fight against corruption is not for EFCC alone, it requires the collective effort of all well-meaning Nigerians, especially the youth.”

He encouraged corps members to serve as role models in their communities and places of primary assignment by promoting ethical values and reporting corrupt practices. 

Babatunde highlighted various forms of corruption, including bribery, misuse of public office, cybercrime, and embezzlement, and urged corps members to report any suspicious activity through tools such as the EFCC’s Eagle Eye App.

He also encouraged corps members to leverage their platforms to raise awareness about the dangers of corruption and the societal benefits of transparency and good governance.

The interactive session gave corps members the opportunity to ask questions and explore ways to support the EFCC’s anti-corruption initiatives. 

In response, Babatunde assured them of the Commission’s readiness to collaborate through continuous engagement, community-based projects, and enlightenment campaigns.
