‘Limit movements’ – Kwara Govt advices residents as security forces target kidnappers’ hideouts

The Kwara State Government has advised residents, particularly those in Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun local government areas, to exercise caution and restrict outdoor movements to essential activities only.

The advisory comes as combined security forces intensify operations in border communities between Kwara and Kogi states after bandits reportedly killed about fifteen residents in Oke-Ode in Irepodun Local Government Area.

In a statement on Wednesday, October 1, the Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, urged residents to restrict their movement as security operatives comb the hideout of the criminals.

“We urge people to be very vigilant and limit their movements to only very necessary routines. That is to avoid being caught unawares as the kidnappers are fleeing their hideouts. We do not want law-abiding citizens to be affected,” she suggested.

While acknowledging the inconveniences the restrictions may cause, Olukoju stressed that the measure is for public safety.

She commended the security agencies for their efforts and urged them to sustain the onslaught until the criminals are completely neutralised and flushed out of the forests.

With this renewed effort, the state government aims to see the criminals apprehended, restore lasting peace to the affected communities, and enable residents to resume their economic activities without fear.
