Matt Hall, an insider at Cardiff City has shared a transfer update on Jamilu Collins and four other big earners in the club ahead of the upcoming summer window.
Jamilu Collins has struggled to perform consistently for the Championship side despite his high wage. The Nigerian International featured in three league games, a situation that has sparked uncertainty surrounding his future.
Despite the willingness of the club to release him in January, Collins failed to find a club to gain consistent playing time and revive his playing career ahead of the AFCON tournament in 2025.
Speaking to footballeagueworld, Hall believes the club would release the Nigerian defender alongside four other high earners in the upcoming summer.
"I think that we will have a good summer. I think we’ll clear out a lot of the wages, the big wages that we have," Matt told FLW.
"We’re somewhere between fifth and seventh for Championship wage bills, depending on - what you believe. It’s not very evident in what we have got."
"I think we’ll have a good window where we will clear out some of the older players on bigger wages - that are not really performing, such as Yakou Meite, Jamilu Collins, Dimitri Goutas, Anwar El-Ghazi, maybe Chris Willock. I think there will be a lot of movement on that front.
He emphasized Cardiff City would maintain its transfer strategy and continue to sign young players to improve the squad and compete for promotion to the Premier League.
"I think we will have a good window where we stay down that same route, and we will sign some young players, and they will improve us. It feels like we’re going in a different direction."
Jamilu Collins will hope to secure a move away from Cardiff City to rejuvenate his career and possibly earn a future call-up to the Super Eagles ahead of the AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.
