Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has publicly shared the burial arrangements for his late parents, Chief Nwabali Godspower Onyekamu and Mrs. Grace Nwabali (née Mmai), describing their passing as a devastating loss that has left him heartbroken.
In an emotional message posted on his Instagram page on Friday, Nwabali expressed the depth of his sorrow.
“About time to put my dad and mom to rest. Something I never imagined doing so soon at this point of my life. Difficult to believe I will never set my eyes on you again,” he wrote. “It’s a different kind of pain I never wish for my enemy. Thank you for everything.”
According to the funeral announcement released by the family, the final rites for the late couple will be held over three days in their hometown of Okwuzi Egbema, Rivers State.
The funeral proceedings will begin on Thursday, June 5, 2025, with a Service of Songs at 5:00 p.m. at the residence of the late Chief Godspower Nwabali on Osafu Lane.
On Friday, June 6, the body of Mrs. Grace Nwabali will be moved from Gbegbe Hospital Mortuary in Omoku to her father’s compound and later to her husband's home, where she will lie in state from 11:00 a.m.
The burial of Chief Godspower Nwabali will take place the following day, Saturday, June 7. His body will depart the mortuary at 9:00 a.m. for his maternal home, before being officially received by the Okwuzi Council of Chiefs at 10:00 a.m. By 11:00 a.m., the body will lie in state at his residence, with internment and further funeral rites set for 12 noon.
A reception and entertainment of guests will follow at CPS Okwuzi Egbema. Chief Godspower Nwabali passed away at the age of 72, while Mrs. Grace Nwabali was 63.
The Nwabali family expressed profound appreciation for the outpouring of support and invited friends, colleagues, and well-wishers to join them in paying final respects on June 6 and 7.
