PICTURES: NSCDC Arrests 24-Year-Old Serial Burglar in Ilorin, Recovers Stolen Items

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested a 24-year-old suspected serial burglar, Habeeb Suleiman, for his alleged involvement in multiple burglary and theft cases within the Warah Oja community of Ilorin.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Ayoola Michael Shola, the suspect was apprehended in the early hours of June 3, 2025, after residents raised a distress call when they caught him attempting to flee with a stolen generator. NSCDC operatives responded swiftly and arrested the suspect on the spot.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Suleiman is a notorious and habitual burglar who has long posed a threat to the peace and safety of the Warah Oja area, frequently targeting homes and carting away valuable items.

A search conducted at his residence led to the recovery of several stolen items believed to be linked to previous burglaries. Items recovered include:

  • 4 television sets

  • 4 laptops

  • 6 mobile phones

  • 2 generators

  • 2 Mouka foam mattresses

  • 1 Jincheng motorcycle

  • Assorted charms and other valuables

The suspect has reportedly confessed to the crimes and is currently assisting with further investigations. He is expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
