The management of Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin, Kwara State, has denied claims that the body of a woman discovered at a refuse dump site was that of a student from the institution.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the university's Information Officer, Femi Afolayan, Al-Hikmah clarified that the deceased was not a registered student at the university. The statement followed reports from the Kwara State Police Command, which had referenced the university.
"The reference to Al-Hikmah University in the release was made by the suspect who must have used the name of the University to lure the girl to achieve his devilish act," the statement read.
The university stressed that no students of Al-Hikmah University had organized the alleged party as claimed by the suspect.
The statement emphasized that this clarification was necessary to reassure parents, guardians, and the university community about the safety of all students on campus.
