Offa Health Tech Students' Union Disowns Viral Report Criticizing Kwara Governor

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, has distanced itself from a viral report circulating online which allegedly criticizes Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over claims related to hostel construction at the institution.

The report, titled “Offa Students Slam Kwara Governor Over False Hostel Construction Claims,” has sparked controversy, but the Union has firmly stated it had no involvement in its creation or dissemination.

In an official statement signed by SUG President Babatunde Olamilekan Matthew, the Union declared that it is unaware of the source or motive behind the publication, emphasizing that the content does not reflect the official position of the students.

“The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa wishes to categorically distance itself from the viral publication titled “Offa Students Slam Kwara Governor Over False Hostel Construction Claims.”

“The Union was not involved in the making of such a report. We therefore declare that we are unaware of the source and intention behind the said publication, and it does not reflect the official position of the students of this institution," the statement read.

The Union stressed that it maintains open and ongoing communication with the college management to ensure that student concerns are properly addressed through the right channels—not through what it described as politically motivated media campaigns.

“We also wish to warn political actors and opposition elements against using the name of our institution or the plight of our students for political gain or propaganda. The welfare of students should not be politicized under any circumstances. Any official communication on matters concerning our students will be issued directly by the SUG leadership.”

The SUG further urged the public to disregard the controversial report, reiterating its commitment to the welfare of students through responsible and diplomatic engagement.

“We urge the public to disregard the aforementioned report and remain assured of our continued efforts to pursue the interest of all students through dialogue, responsibility, and diplomacy,” the statement concluded.
